“Bir Bahar Akşamı” (A Spring Evening) is a timeless work by the legendary Selahattin Pınar, reflecting a tormented youthful love for Afife Jale, the first Muslim Turkish theater actress. Based on a poem by Fuat Edip Baksı about “dying of love,” the song embodies Pınar’s deep emotional turmoil. Having become a classic, famously performed by Müzeyyen Senar, the piece is revived today thanks to Tarkan’s unmistakable voice. His vocal power merges with the passion of the story, telling the pain of finding the beloved after years of searching: “For years you were the person I was looking for… now I have no strength left.” Tarkan’s interpretation pays homage to the emotional intensity of this Turkish musical heritage.
