1. Introduction: The Author Consolidates with Aacayipsin (1994)
With the second album, “Aacayipsin” (You Are Amazing) (1994), Tarkan’s authorial flair strengthened significantly. His capability was not limited to vocal performance but extended to complete musical creation. The success of “Aacayipsin” was enormous, with two and a half million copies sold, consolidating his reputation as a prolific and successful author.
2. Iconic Compositions and Awards
For “Aacayipsin”, Tarkan wrote the lyrics for four songs and composed three others, contributing to successful tracks like “Unutmamalı”, “Gül Döktüm Yollarına”, “Kış Güneşi”, “Şeytan Azapta”, “Dön Bebeğim”, and “Bekle”.
The track “Şıkıdım” (All Yours?) received prestigious awards such as Best Lyrics, Best Composition, and Best Song at the first Kral TV Video Music Awards in 1995, a triumph that officially established his role as a leading author.
Subsequently, “Şımarık” (1997), known as “Kiss Kiss,” exploded onto the global market, selling a million copies and conquering the Billboard charts, confirming his worldwide resonance.

3. Prolific Output and Artistic Control
Over the years, Tarkan has continued to forge his own creative path with numerous other songs written and/or composed by him:
- The EP “Dudu” (2003) saw him not only as an artist but also as a co-producer alongside Ozan Çolakoğlu, strengthening his artistic control over his label Hitt Müzik.
- The single “Ayrılık Zor” (Separation is Difficult, 2005), specially created for an Avea campaign, was entirely written and composed by Tarkan, selling almost half a million copies.
- The success of “Kuzu Kuzu” from the album “Karma” (2001) led to the reworking of “Taş” to create the anthem “Bir Oluruz Yolunda” (United for You, 2002), composed for the Turkish national football team, demonstrating his versatility.
- The Turkish classical music album “Ahde Vefa” (2016) is a testament to his artistic depth and his ability to fully curate a project from an authorial and production standpoint.
- His most recent output includes successful singles like “Geççek” (2022), “Yap Bi Güzellik” (2022), “Son Durak” (2022), and the album “Kuantum 51” (2024).
