“Öp” (Kiss Me) was the second single released from Tarkan’s 2010 album, “Adımı Kalbine Yaz” (Write My Name on Your Heart). This track, an exceptional collaborative effort, features lyrics co-written by Sezen Aksu and Tarkan himself, while the music was composed by Ozan Çolakoğlu and Tarkan.
The launch of the “Öp” music video was an event in itself, first published on Tarkan’s official website and Pal FM’s site. Directed by Nadir Bekar and produced by D Production, the video proved to be a multi-layered, high-budget project involving an impressive team of 130 cast members. Filming took place across 10 different locations and lasted a remarkable 3 days, showcasing the sheer scale of the production.
In the video, the Turkish Megastar, elegantly dressed in a tuxedo, invites viewers to revisit segments of his life through evocative imagery. This visual narrative, combined with cinematic mastery, immediately captivated the audience. The video garnered an astounding 92,000 views within the first 12 hours of its release, once again confirming Tarkan’s immense impact. Lyrics translation English “Öp” – Kiss Me
Who is this new me? I look in the mirror, is this my new self? I’ve met myself.
My yesterday and my today are one and the same (like liver and lamb wrap – a Turkish idiom for “inseparable”).
It’s late, but the karma of my past has been purified.
Its innocence washed away my sins, as if it were an angel sent from heaven.
Everything I have is perfect.
Everything I’m trying to do, my summer clothes, my winter clothes, is what suits me best.
I can never get enough of that cascading hair, those crescent eyebrows, those pure honey lips. Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me, kiss me, I couldn’t get enough.
That neck is white as milk; come out and don’t obey the devil. Look, look, look, look, I couldn’t stop myself.
Note on the idiom:
“Can ciğer kuzu sarması” is a colloquial Turkish idiom that literally means “lamb wrap with heart and liver.” It’s used to describe something extremely intimate, inseparable, or a very affectionate and close person. I translated it as “one and the same (inseparable)” to convey its meaning within the english context.
