“Şeytan Azapta”—literally “The Devil is in Torment”—is the track from the classic album Aacayipsin that captures Tarkan’s most fiery side. The song, featuring lyrics by the legendary Sezen Aksu and music by Ozan Çolakoğlu, speaks not of suffering, but of a vibrant inner agitation and an unrestrainable desire. The story is about a man’s monotonous life (“exhausted by traffic”) being instantly destroyed by the sight of a woman, described as a “rare gem.” This vision shatters all balance and good intentions. The Turkish phrase colloquially means being restless or “antsy,” driven by suppressed energy. It’s an anthem to that irresistible passion that demands release, transforming the devil’s torment over inactivity into bold emotional expression.
