Tarkan is a name that radically changed the history of Turkish Pop. Everyone knows that our King of Pop, whom we have crowned with every one of his works since the ’90s, is an artist who electrifies concerts, both with his voice and his artistic direction. His career goes far beyond his iconic vocal performances; it is deeply rooted in his extraordinary ability as an author, composer, and lyricist. Since his first steps in the music world, Tarkan has demonstrated a complete artistic vision, personally shaping many of the tracks that have made him one of the most influential figures in Turkish and international music. He became the most successful Turkish artist in the world after 1980 and earned a place in music history as the Megastar of the late 20th and 21st centuries.

2. The Origins and Musical Training
Tarkan’s authorial journey has roots in his solid musical training. During his high school studies, he deepened his knowledge of Turkish art music at the Karamürsel Advanced Music Association and, later in Istanbul, at the Üsküdar Music Association. This foundation provided him with the essential tools to express his creativity and technical competence.
3. The Recording Debut and Authorial Imprint (1992)
His recording debut, the album “Yine Sensiz” (Without You Again) (1992), immediately revealed his authorial imprint. For this work, Tarkan wrote the lyrics for three songs himself and co-composed three others, including his debut hit, the famous “Kıl Oldum” (I was Annoyed/I’ve Had Enough). This first album sold a remarkable 700,000 copies, featuring music videos for tracks such as “Kimdi” (Who Was It?), “Gelipte Halimi Gördün Mü?” (Did You Come and See My Condition?), “Vazgeçemem” (I Can’t Give Up), and “Çok Ararsın Beni” (You Will Look for Me a Lot).
