In December 2007, Tarkan released his seventh studio album, “Metamorfoz”. The musical work achieved immediate success, appearing on internet bestseller lists even before its official release. The first song, “Vay Anam Vay,” immediately captured the audience’s attention. The album was also distributed in Europe and Asia.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Tarkan wrote the lyrics for all the songs and composed the music for seven of them. Despite some initial criticism about the choice of a completely electronic production, devoid of acoustic instruments, the quality of the melodies and lyrics was met with great success. With the first pressing alone, 50,000 copies were sold, and sales doubled in a few days, quickly reaching 400,000 copies in Turkey. The album was certified Platinum in 2008 and Diamond in 2009 by MÜYAP.
The album’s lyrics were highly praised, with the Turkish Language Association commending their quality. The song “Hop Hop” contains a strong message of criticism toward the system and politicians, with influential verses like “We are servants of God, but we have become slaves to humans.” Other tracks like “Pare Pare,” “Arada Bir,” and “Dilli Düdük” also became very popular, with successful music videos.
Following this high volume of sales, on August 2, 2008, Tarkan released the album “Metamorfoz Remixed,” a double CD version that includes remixed versions of the songs. The remix album, distributed in Europe, Asia, Japan, North and South America, and Australia, contributed to even greater success, reaching 750,000 copies sold in Turkey alone and surpassing a total of 1.1 million copies sold worldwide. In 2008, “Metamorfoz” was the best-selling album in Turkey.

Vay Anam Vay
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu; Arrangements – Ozan Çolakoğlu
Tarkan’s song ‘Vay Anam Vay’ is about the intense love and nostalgia that the singer feels for someone. The song has metaphors such as ‘my heart was struck by an arrow’ to express the depth of emotions. The lyrics convey a sense of impotence and obsession, where the singer is deeply in love but the other person is unaware of his feelings.
English translation of the lyrics of the song Vay Anam Vay – Oh my God, what a situation I’m in!
Don’t ask me :”What’s your problem?” – Come and see, look at my situation and understand. Gradually my heart is burning and if she told me to die, I would die for her.
I love you so much, so much.. ok it came straight to my heart, I’m crazy about the pain I feel but she doesn’t know. Oh my God I burn inside and out, what a situation I find myself in. Since I can’t control my bravado, my mood has gone up in smoke. Now I struggle to get through the morning and evening. Little by little my heart is burning and if she told me to die, I would die for her. I love you so much, so much. ok it came straight to my heart, I’m crazy about the pain I feel, I’m crazy about the pain I feel but she doesn’t know. There is no remedy for my troubles. The arrow has struck in the mark of my heart. I am her slave, I am the one devastated, but she does not know. Oh my God I burn inside and out, what a situation I am in.

Dilli Düdük
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song Dilli Düdük criticises superficiality and fiction. In the text, the author urges us to be authentic and aware of our own limits in a world full of ephemeral relationships and self-dilution.
“Dilli düdük” in Turkish literally means “Talkative Whistle” or “flute with tongue”, but in colloquial language it is used to describe a person who repeats what he hears, a chatterbox or a gossip speaker. In other words, it is a term that refers to someone who talks too much and without thinking, spreading information without checking it.
English translation of the lyrics Dilli Düdük – Talkative Whistle
If words are silver, silence is gold. That fool tells fables and does not know. Who sows wind reaps storm, so who falls alone does not weep.
Just be yourself, don’t get carried away or you’ll lose sleep. Be smart, don’t play jokes or you’ll fall backwards. The Talkative Whistle has turned a flea into a camel, it is consciously throwing gasoline on the fire, the fool is digging his grave and the crickets are singing. For me the weather is good, he knows it well. Those who know me know it well. Their vain efforts have no effect on these hearts. Come, from your eyes I obscure. Put a hand on your heart in this false life. There are those who come and go, but those who remain do not forget. This mortal world does not spare you either. It boasts without shame. It thinks it is superior but it is wrong. Its nose is on Mount Kaf. It is believed to be the king of this world. Shake yourself and come back to you. Know your limits and your place do not go too far. Two for two is four. Math is easy to calculate Open your heart, go back and don’t grumble.

Arada Bir
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song ‘Arada Bir’ explains how to overcome difficult times, the sense of melancholy and deal with pain. The lyrics convey the message of accepting fate, experiencing love and finding a change in yourself despite the sadness and displeasure expressed throughout the song.
English translation of the lyrics Arada Bir – Once in a while
I’m burning my friends, I feel down with morale. I can’t stand it. I don’t have to cry, I don’t have to be so sad. It will pass. Hope should not be a source of disturbance. We are human beings and sometimes we can lose our balance. When we come back to ourselves, we are again inclined to love. Sometimes I get angry even with fate. I do not blow and leave ashes in the barbecue. Sometimes I consciously make love sad. I renew myself, accept it. I am a drop in your ocean, a grain of sand on your shore. Do not forget that this heart is crazy about you. We are human beings and sometimes we can lose our balance. When we come back to ourselves, we are again inclined to love. I’m burning my friends, I feel down with morale. You’re trapped inside me now… Sad and painful songs.

İstanbul Ağlıyor
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song ‘İstanbul Ağlıyor’ conveys the deep pain and nostalgia experienced after the departure of a loved one. In the text the author of the piece uses the metaphor of Istanbul crying to represent his emotional state.
English translation of the lyrics İstanbul Ağlıyor- Istanbul is crying
I’m still yours, I’m crazy about you.
Istanbul has been crying since you left here. I’ve been waiting for you. I’m in mourning, my love. I’m still yours, I’m crazy about you. They are just as you left me, lost in dead-end streets. I am a disaster.
Since you left this love I am at war with my heart. Your absence is worse than death. My heart is frozen.I’m still yours, I’m crazy about you. I’m just as you left me, lost in dead-ends. I’m a disaster.
Be like the wind, blow softly. Be like the rain, find me. At night come to my dreams.. kiss me, caress me and love me. Since you left this city the nightingales have stopped singing. My sun does not rise, it has set. Roses do not bloom anymore. I’m still yours, I’m crazy about you. I’m just like you left me, lost in dead-ends. I’m a disaster. I have not forgotten, I cannot forget. The storm has not calmed down inside me. Your picture is still on my bedside table, in the same place where you left it. I’m still yours, I’m crazy about you. They are just as you left me, lost in dead-ends. I am a disaster.

Hop Hop
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song Hop Hop criticizes the hypocrisy and deception of society. The text urges listeners to stand together and resist manipulation. The author of the song uses metaphors such as ‘cicili bicili yalanlar’ (fanciful lies) to highlight the superficiality of false promises.
English translation of the lyrics of the song Hop Hop – Hey, stop!
Don’t yell too much, don’t bother me with this nonsense. Come on, come on, accept it as is. Come on, let’s go. Always the same useless story, the same stone. Always accept the same promises with unknown results, take one and hit the other. It’s like “loser” is written in the middle of our forehead. We’re being ambushed looking into our eyes. Don’t yell too much, don’t get mad at me, come on, accept it, come on, don’t try to make me lose my temper. You pierced our hearts and sold us all with a pen. You know, we’re all for one and one for all. Go tell your nice lies to someone else. These old tricks don’t work. Be careful. We were close. You forgot. One hand in oil, the other in honey. What kind of a story is this? I must be hard as nails.
Is the world turning upside down? Or am I the one feeling dizzy? This system has deceived us by making us slaves of each other. If you give a finger they take your arm. You have to be careful in this moment. Do not follow his temperament but challenge his regiment. Do not believe everything that is written or drawn. Don’t be fooled by what is said or told. Hold on hard not to deviate from your path. Do not follow the devil and do not lose control. Guard your heart and do not ruin yourself.

Dedikodu
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song ‘Dedikodu’ addresses the damage caused by gossip and envy. The piece calls for resilience against baseless accusations and malicious rumours.
English translation of the lyrics Dedikodu- Gossip
Do not need words, look into my eyes and read the truth. Listen to the voice within you. Ask your heart about me. Keep away from those opportunistic and cruel hands. My inside, my outside, my essence, my words are one, believe me. My forehead is clear, my face is white. Gossip, empty slander. Don’t be fooled by those big lies. Do not burn me, do not hurt this servant.
Gossip, gossip… they’re jealous. There are many people who throw stones at a red apple. They deliberately trample our branch and deceive us. Those who have wounded our heart without suffering, sooner or later will have to answer for it. Those who separate two people who love each other will sooner or later have my hands on their collar until the day of judgment. Do not enter into my sins with open eyes. Do not blame me, do not make me sad. All I can say is that the arrow will come out of the bow. Gossip, empty calumnies. Do not be deceived by those great lies. Do not burn me, do not hurt this servant.
Gossip, gossip… they’re jealous. There are many people who throw stones at a red apple. They deliberately trample on our branch and deceive us.

Bam Teli
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song ‘Bam Teli’ reflects on the fleeting nature of love and the dangers of blind passion. The text uses metaphors such as ‘the ruin of my hopes’ and ‘bottomless pit’ to indicate the risks that a feeling so strong as to cloud reason and critical judgment can entail.
English translation of the lyrics of the song Bam Teli- Don’t put your finger in the wound
Don’t put your finger in the wound, don’t add salt and pepper to my wound we’ll hurt each other later. Is this okay? Let’s look at each other, don’t talk. Let’s travel from heart to heart. Let’s not lose the taste of pleasure in vain. Let’s make love, not fight. It’s not right for me, nor for you. Come on, let’s steer the rudder toward the shores of love. A spark is enough to cause a straw fire. If we catch fire, it will be too late, we will become ashes, side by side. These games are the ruin of my hopes. For you there is right and wrong. Believe me you are really wrong. Come back my love while the road is near. It’s a bottomless well. If we fall we will swallow the pain. Do not think that in the end there will be a victory. Do not think of getting away with it. There is no right or wrong in this. Fire burns where it falls.

Gün Gibi
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu;
Tarkan’s song “Gün Gibi” uses this expression to describe a relationship or situation that is bright and intense, just like a sunny day. The lyrics of the song talk about a love that brings joy and warmth, comparing it to the light and heat of the sun. In summary, “Gün Gibi” is an expression that symbolizes something bright, intense and full of life, and in the context of Tarkan’s song, refers to the love and happiness it brings.
English translation of the lyrics of the song Gün Gibi – Like the day
His fire burns differently. His kiss, his sigh, his smile are different. He has a special place in my heart. I found peace in his arms.
I was a wanderer in wandering corners. The loneliness of my nights was cold as ice. My beloved rose became like the day in total darkness. Just when I had lost all hope she came to my aid. From now on, even if I die, the weight of this world’s pain will not matter to me. This heart suffered a lot, it was so sad that it burned constantly. This heart burned and died. But I had not lost faith in love. At the end fate smiled on me. I can say anything if he wants to. I am all he has. If you like, I’ll sacrifice my life for one look. When his skin clings to mine the time seems to stop in that body with one of his breaths. My beloved rose became like the day in total darkness. Just when I had lost all hope she came to my aid. From now on, even if I die, the weight of this world’s pain will not matter to me.

Çat Kapi
Authors: Lyrics and Music – Tarkan Tevetoğlu; Arrangements -Ozan Çolakoğlu
The meaning of the song “Çat Kapi” revolves around the idea of sudden and unexpected love. A chance encounter that upsets the protagonist’s life and leads him to fall in love. The song describes the surprise and intensity of this love that comes unexpectedly, as if the door suddenly opens and reveals a new world.
English translation of the lyrics Çat Kapi- Suddenly
Love! Again? I am sorry!
I have forbidden it to him. I have forbidden it to this heart! At first its taste is sweet but in the end I will get hurt, I will not fall into his game. I have already beaten it before and this time I had sworn to keep away from love.
Suddenly he knocked on my door,
and made me change my mind. I didn’t take it seriously, but it will end up deceiving me again. I’ll burn again and burn myself to ashes. He has conquered my fortress. How is it possible to resist now? He tied my hands and arms. At first its taste is sweet but in the end I’ll get hurt, I won’t fall into his game. I have already beaten it before and this time I had sworn to keep away from love. I didn’t take it seriously, but it will eventually deceive me again. I’ll burn again and burn myself to ashes. It has conquered my fortress.

Pare Pare
Authors: Lyrics – Tarkan Tevetoğlu; Music and Arrangements -Ozan Çolakoğlu
In the song Pare Pare by Tarkan, the singer talks about himself and reflects on the bittersweet nature of joy and the hard impact of past pain. In the text he uses metaphors such as ‘mountains and seas of pain’ to convey deep emotional scars and the premature experience of life’s difficulties.
English translation of the song Pare Pare- My joys qre bittersweet
I still remember every moment as if it was yesterday, I feel uncomfortable. That’s why I’m a little grumpy, there is always a part of me that is sad. Each of my wounds still hurts inside me. That’s why my sea is moving and my shores are always lonely.
I burn and vanish, cry and then laugh. My joys are always bittersweet.
Like a mountain, like an ocean, I witness the pain in songs. Every time I wink at life with hope, every time flowers bloom, autumn knocks on my door. I met you very early and immediately knew the irony of fate. I grew up quickly and my childhood days are lost.
I burn and vanish, cry and then laugh. My joys are always bittersweet.
Like a mountain, like an ocean, I witness the pain in songs. Every time I wink at life with hope, every time flowers bloom, autumn knocks on my door.
