The partnership began with Tarkan’s involvement in the Turkish voice-over for “Great Migrations,” one of the largest productions in National Geographic Channel’s history. His contribution, lending his voice to the series, was widely covered by Turkish media outlets, attesting to the initiative’s importance. The first episode voiced by Tarkan aired in Turkey on November 7, 2010, simultaneously with its global debut.
November 2010 marked the beginning of a significant collaboration between Tarkan and National Geographic Turkey, uniting his fame with a cause of global importance: the conservation of nature and the documentation of its wonders.

Voice-Over and The Genesis of the Collaboration
Admiration for the Documentary The Megastar expressed great admiration for the production, calling it “definitely the best documentary ever made on animal migration” due to the dedication, patience, and planning involved. “As a nature lover, it was important for me to be involved. I discovered new things about animals that profoundly amazed me.”
Tarkan accepted the project without hesitation, as he explained in his interview with National Geographic Magazine: “We were in a meeting discussing a different topic. This new project came about spontaneously… I believe my inner voice and my enthusiasm for nature conservation simply made it happen. When you want something to happen so much, it does. This is what I realized and learned through this project.”

Tarkan the Photographer in Masai Mara, Kenya
Parallel to the voice-over work, Tarkan extended his commitment to nature photography. In early November 2010, his photographs taken in Masai Mara, Kenya, were published in National Geographic Magazine, accompanied by an interview focusing on his activism and his growing passion for photography.
The Kenya Experience
Tarkan described the trip to Kenya as his first visit to that “splendid land,” finding “more than I expected.” However, he expressed concern about the shrinking natural habitat of the animals due to the increase in the human population.
Photography and Environmental Commitment
Tarkan revealed his obsession with photography, taking pictures non-stop and wanting to improve in the field. He emphasized that the goal of his photos is twofold: to share the beauty of nature, especially with those living in big cities, and to warn about environmental dangers, such as the agreement to build a highway through the Serengeti, which he warned “will destroy the wildlife.”
