It was June 26, 1993, when a very young Tarkan, fresh off the overwhelming success of his early singles like “Kıl Oldum” and “Çok Ararsın Beni”, starred in a television special for the show “Gecenin Rengi”.
An Unconventional Performance
On that occasion, for the shooting directed by İbrahim Morkoç and intended also for Moscow State TV, a truly unique set was built right by the swimming pool of the famous Klassis Otel in Silivri.Between wild dance moves and a 9-meter camera tracking dolly following his every step, Tarkan ended up… soaking wet (sırılsıklam), leaving us with iconic snapshots that still showcase the joy and overwhelming energy of his early years.
The Beginning of the Phenomenon
That image of a curly-haired boy, brimming with talent and completely unstoppable on stage (and by the pool!) was proof that something truly unique was about to be born. More than thirty years later, rediscovering these precious newspaper clippings reminds us where the journey of the Megastar—who continues to enchant stadiums around the world today—first began.
