“Kıl Oldum Abi”: A Humorous Take on Style Faux Pas
“Kıl Oldum Abi” (I Got Annoyed, Dude) is a surprisingly humorous and relatable track from Tarkan’s debut album, Yine Sensiz. Unlike many of the album’s more romantic or melancholic songs, this one takes a lighter, more observational approach, focusing on the exasperation you feel when encountering someone with a truly questionable sense of style.
The song’s meaning revolves around that moment of mild annoyance or even cringe-worthiness when faced with a fashion disaster. It perfectly captures the essence of seeing someone “dressed up” in a way that just doesn’t work, leading to a funny internal (or external) groan of “Ugh, how annoying!” It’s a playful critique of exaggerated or mismatched outfits, complete with details like clashing colors and even a run in a stocking. Tarkan’s lighthearted performance here paints a vivid picture of someone trying to avoid eye contact or wondering what on earth happened to the other person’s fashion sense.
“Kıl Oldum Abi” is a refreshing departure from typical love songs, offering a universal scenario with a comedic twist. It celebrates the quirks of everyday life and the small frustrations that can sometimes bring a smile to our faces.
English translation of the lyrics Kil Oldum Abi – I’m annoyed, dude
She got all dressed up, she put on makeup,
With such a mess, such sloppiness.
I’m annoyed, dude.
She dressed in bright colors,
Her state is pitiful,
And on top of that, her stocking has a run.
I’m annoyed, dude.
I’d look for a place to run,
If I saw her in the dark.
Did the sun go to her head?
What happened to you?
Come to your senses, come to your senses.
Turn around and look at your state.
You’ve fallen out with mirrors.
I’m annoyed, dude.

“Kimdi”: The Regret and End of a Turbulent Love
“Kimdi” (Who Was It?) is a Tarkan track that delves into the depths of a tormented relationship, marked by misunderstandings, abandonment, and broken promises. The song is a bitter reflection on the end of a love, punctuated by rhetorical questions and a sense of emotional exhaustion.
The meaning of “Kimdi” revolves around disappointment and reproach toward a volatile and contradictory partner. The protagonist asks who this person is that gets offended, gets angry, hurts, and, above all, keeps abandoning them. The words are full of lies and the gazes are wild, creating an atmosphere of emotional chaos. There’s a sense of exasperation due to the lack of patience and the suffering inflicted. The repetition of “Kimdi?” isn’t just a question about a past identity, but an inquiry into the very essence of the partner’s destructive behavior.
“Kimdi” culminates in a definitive resignation. The song expresses the point of no return, where patience has run out and the relationship has come to an end. Despite the sadness, there’s also a sense of liberation in the decision to end a cycle of pain. It’s a track that speaks of broken hearts, shattered promises, and the courage to say “enough” to a love that no longer brings happiness.
English translation of the lyrics Kimdi – Who was it?
Come on, darling, it’s not like this,
Who was it that got offended, angry, hurt, tell me?
Who was it that left me again and went away?
Who, who, who, who was it?
Who, ah, who, who, who was it, tell me?
With your words full of lies and deceit,
With your eyes that look so crazily,
Who was it that got me into trouble?
You burned me with your fiery passion,
You saddened me with your endless longing,
Who was it that said “I love you, I won’t leave you”?
Affliction, sadness, trouble, it’s all in you.
I’ve run out of patience, my trust in you is gone.
I can’t take it anymore, I can’t bear it, oh, it’s over.
It’s over, it’s over, it’s over, it’s over.
It’s over, ah, it’s over, it’s over, it’s over like this.
Come on, darling, it’s not like this,
Who was it that got offended, angry, hurt, tell me?
Who was it that left me again and went away?
Your whims, your flirtation will never end.
The time for talk is already over.
Goodbye to you too, now it’s over.

“Söz Verdim”: The Unbreakable Strength of a Promise of Love
“Söz Verdim” (I Promised) is one of the most touching and heartfelt tracks from the album Yine Sensiz. This song is a profound declaration of loyalty and waiting, exploring the persistence of love and hope despite distance and the passage of time. It’s a ballad imbued with a sweet melancholy, yet firm in its devotion.
The central meaning of “Söz Verdim” lies in the sacredness of a promise of love. The protagonist lives in a state of perpetual anticipation, hoping that every knock at the door might be their beloved. Despite the years passing and the longing not diminishing, their faith in a return and the promise to love and wait remain unshakeable. The song expresses a deep emotional dependency, where life without the other is difficult and days pass with struggle. Their eyes yearn for presence, their arms desire to embrace, and hope is always turned towards tomorrow.
“Söz Verdim” is an anthem to perseverance in feeling and love’s ability to withstand the test of time. Tarkan, with his passionate and sincere interpretation, makes the pain of absence palpable, but also the inexhaustible strength of a heartfelt commitment. It’s a song that deeply resonates with anyone who has ever waited for a love, firmly believing in the promise of a future together.
English translation of the lyrics Söz Verdim – I made you a Promise
Every time my door knocks, I think it’s you.
Inside me, there’s always a hope, I run to you.
Your memory keeps living, and for that, I burn. Days pass,
Years have gone by, but your memory keeps living… and for that, I burn.
Days pass, years have gone by.
I’ll miss you! I’ll always love you.
I made you a promise, my soul, I’ll wait for you.
I’ll miss you, I’ll always love you.
I made you a promise, my soul, I’ll wait for you.
It feels like it will never end,
Days pass so hard without you. My hope awaits tomorrow.
My arms want to hold you,
My eyes long for you.
My hope awaits tomorrow.
I’ll miss you, I’ll always love you.
I made you a promise, my soul, I’ll wait for you.
I’ll miss you, I’ll always love you.
I made you a promise, my soul, I’ll wait for you.

“Gelip De Halimi Gördün Mü?”: The Bitter Rejection of a Late Return
“Gelip De Halimi Gördün Mü?” (Did You Come and See My State?) is a track that powerfully conveys a sense of disappointment and resentment towards a love that drifted away and now attempts a belated reunion. The song is a firm and resolute answer to someone who, after abandoning everything without a word, tries to rebuild a bridge that time and pain have already broken.
The central meaning of this track revolves around the refusal to grant a second chance to someone who failed to value the relationship when it mattered. The protagonist expresses frustration over the absence of letters or greetings after the farewell and questions the reason behind this sudden renewed interest. The rhetorical questions, “Did you come to see my state?”, “Did you ask about me?”, “Did you ever check my fever?” highlight the lack of care and presence during a time of need.
“Gelip De Halimi Gördün Mü?” is an anthem to rediscovered dignity after suffering and the realization that some chapters, once closed, cannot be reopened. It’s a powerful message about the value of respect and presence in a relationship, and the bitter lesson that love, if not nurtured, can die permanently, leaving only the memory of what was and will no longer be.
English translation of the lyrics Gelip De Halimi Gördün Mü? – Did you come to see how I was?
Ever since you left with a goodbye, I don’t know why
I received neither a letter nor a greeting.
Why now, all of a sudden, are you asking everyone about me?
No, I won’t disappear anymore, I won’t disappear anymore.
You didn’t know my worth.
Now it doesn’t matter anymore, it doesn’t matter anymore.
You’re worth nothing now.
Did you come to see how I am?
Did you see me and ask how I am?
It doesn’t work that way, from afar.
Did you ever check my fever with your hand?
Did you check it?
That page has already closed, I can’t open it again.
I won’t go back, don’t beg me.
I understood it was all a lie, I won’t be fooled again.
I no longer believe in love, I no longer believe in love.
No, I won’t disappear anymore, I won’t disappear anymore.
You didn’t know my worth.
Now it doesn’t matter anymore, it doesn’t matter anymore.
You’re worth nothing now.
Did you come to see how I was?
Did you see me and ask how I was?
It doesn’t work that way, from afar.
Did you ever check my fever with your hand?
Did you check it?

“Sarıl Bana”: A Plea for an Embrace in the Face of Solitude
“Sarıl Bana” (Hug Me) is one of the most touching and vulnerable ballads from the album Yine Sensiz. The track is a heartfelt cry emerging from deep solitude and the pain of absence, a plea for the warmth and comfort of an embrace in the most difficult moments. The central meaning of “Sarıl Bana” is the expression of total emotional dependence on another person. The protagonist finds themselves alone in their toughest times; nights are filled with sadness, and dawn doesn’t arrive without the beloved’s presence. The longing is so strong that even the night becomes an excuse to feel the absence even more intensely. The repeated appeal, “Hug me,” is a primary desire for physical and emotional closeness, a way to find refuge from the cold of solitude and tears. The song captures the desperation of someone who feels lost and abandoned, for whom the only solution is the contact and comfort of their loved one.
“Sarıl Bana” is an anthem to human fragility and the healing power of touch and affection. Tarkan, with his heartfelt performance, makes the sense of emptiness and the yearning for an embrace that can soothe the soul’s wounds palpable. It’s a song that speaks directly to the heart of anyone who has ever ardently desired someone’s presence to overcome a moment of darkness.
English translation of the lyrics Saril Bana – Hug me
You’re not by my side in my hardest moments.
Morning never comes with this dawn.
The night is filled with sadness.
I miss you so much, the night is just an excuse.
Hug me (hug me)
Hug me (hug me)
I’m alone in the freezing cold of the morning,
on the first evening without you,
with my sorrows and my tears.
I cried out: hug me.

“Oldu Canım Ara Beni”: The Exhaustion of an Oppressive Love
“Oldu Canım Ara Beni” (Okay, Darling, Call Me) is a Tarkan track that captures the frustration and exasperation caused by a relationship where love has turned into torment. The song expresses a desire for liberation from control and excessive emotional pressure, highlighting the breaking point of someone who can no longer endure the oppression. The central meaning of “Oldu Canım Ara Beni” lies in the comparison of the relationship to a kind of “detention” or “eye arrest,” suggesting constant control and a lack of trust. The protagonist is tired of the interrogations and continuous “questions and answers,” feeling that the situation has crossed every limit. There’s a tone of defiance and resignation in the phrase “Okay, darling, call me!”, which sounds more like a “Go ahead, I don’t care anymore” than a sincere invitation. The lyrics emphasize how this love has become a torture, an imposition that most people wouldn’t endure, pushing them to abandon it. “Oldu Canım Ara Beni” is an anthem to emotional liberation from a toxic bond. Tarkan, with his performance, makes the sense of suffocation and the desire to end a cycle of pain and control palpable. It’s a track that speaks of dignity and the courage to recognize when a love, no matter how deep, has become too heavy to bear.
English translation of the lyrics Oldu Canım Ara Beni – It’s alright, darling, call me!
A guard or my love?
He never stops watching me.
I’m fed up with his interrogations.
Enough is enough, I’ve had it.
I’m a bit troubled, as if I have to face who knows what new thing. It’s alright, darling, call me! Yours is like torture for my love.
Things are as they are, that’s all.
If it were someone else, they would have left a long time ago.
They would have said, this isn’t working, this isn’t working, and would have said goodbye. They would have given up and renounced you. I’m a bit troubled, as if I have to face who knows what new thing. It’s alright, darling, call me!

Vazgeçemem
Arranged By – Ozan Çolakoğlu
Lyrics By – Tarkan Tevetoğlu
Oud – Ergin Kızılay
“Vazgeçemem”: The Inescapable Love and Emotional Dependence
“Vazgeçemem” (I Can’t Give Up) is a track of profound emotional intensity from the album Yine Sensiz. It explores the idea of a love so powerful it becomes an essential component of existence. The song is an unequivocal declaration of the inability to live without the beloved, an anthem to emotional dependence and the beauty of a bond that consumes the soul.
The central meaning of “Vazgeçemem” is the description of an all-encompassing love that envelops all senses. Those “eyes that steal the soul and invade the heart like a river.” The chorus, “Never, never could I give up on you,” emphasizes this absolute impossibility of separation. Without the other, the protagonist cannot be, cannot do, cannot remain alone. “Vazgeçemem” is an anthem to the ineluctable force of love, which binds two souls in a way that goes beyond simple choice. It is an expression of the vulnerability that stems from such a deep attachment, but also of the beauty of finding one’s completeness in the other. Tarkan, with his passionate interpretation, makes this total fusion palpable, this visceral need that transforms love into a vital necessity.
English translation of the lyrics Vazgeçemem – I can never, ever give you up
Ah, your eyes, ah, your eyes
That take me away from myself and look veiled behind the mist.
Ah, your words, those words
That steal me from myself and, like a river, flow into my heart.
I can never, ever give you up, never.
I can’t be without you, I can’t do it without love.
Ah, your hair, ah, your hair
That burns like flames, swayed by the wind, spreading a thousand lights.
I can never, ever give you up, never.
I can’t be without you, I can’t do it without love.

“Çok Ararsın Beni”: The Regret of a Disregarded Love
“Çok Ararsın Beni” (You’ll Miss Me A Lot) is a sharp and resolute track from the album Yine Sensiz. It expresses the hard lesson of regret for those who failed to value a sincere love. The song is a direct and almost prophetic warning to an ex-partner who took the protagonist’s devotion for granted, predicting that one day they will deeply feel their absence. Tarkan, with his performance, infuses the track with a mix of resentment, self-assertion, and a certain irony, transforming pain into a form of triumph. It’s a song that resonates with those who have experienced others’ carelessness, offering a message of hope: the value of sincere love.Regarding the phrase “hint kumaşı”:
Translated directly from Turkish, “kumaşı hint” means “Indian fabric” or “Indian cloth.” “Kumaş” means fabric/cloth, and “hint” refers to India. However, in Turkish, this phrase is often used idiomatically to denote something rare and precious, likely due to the historical association of exquisite fabrics with India. In the context of the song, when the partner “thought they were hint kumaşı,” it implies they were presumptuous or thought too highly of themselves, believing they were uniquely valuable and irreplaceable.
English translation of the lyrics Çok Ararsın Beni – You’ll search for me a lot, a lot, a lot.
No one will love you like I do.
I knowingly made myself a slave, and you also thought you were Indian fabric (i.e., something rare and precious).
You’ll search for me a lot, a lot, a lot.
You’ll wait for me a lot, a lot, a lot.
You’ll search for me a lot, a lot, a lot.
You’ll miss me a lot, a lot, a lot.
Every day a new love, a new lover. Their words are all lies, their eyes are deceitful.
It’s clear what they like and what they don’t like.
So now they’ve found someone else.
You said “love,” and we fell in love.
Love with us is sold by the pound.
You said “tie us,” and we tied ourselves,
With meters and meters of rope.
Now, sighs and troubles.
These “alas” are useless.
Put the basket on your arm, and everyone go their own way.

Selam Ver
Lyrics By – Alpay Aydın

“Selam Ver”: A Remorseful Lament and a Plea for a Sign
“Selam Ver” (Say Hello / Give a Greeting) is a melancholic and introspective ballad from the album Yine Sensiz. It explores the deep regret in love for a past mistake. The track is the lament of someone who acknowledges their error in abandoning a loved one and now, tormented by memories and longing, desperately seeks a sign of forgiveness or at least acknowledgment. The central meaning of “Selam Ver” lies in the protagonist’s internal dialogue with their past and with the hurt person. The song expresses full acceptance of one’s guilt and the impossibility of asking for more: one can’t ask for a smile or an embrace, but merely a simple greeting—a sign that the memory and value of past love haven’t been completely erased. Tarkan, with his heartfelt performance, makes the pain of someone who has been hurt palpable. It’s a track that speaks of the desire to find closure, even when complete forgiveness seems unattainable, settling for a minimal gesture that might soothe the inner torment.
English translation of the lyrics Selam Ver – Say hello to me
Your eyes question the past,
Memories seem to demand an account.
Your eyes question the past,
Memories seem to demand an account.
It was a mistake to leave you.
My crazy heart only understands this now.
It was a mistake to leave you.
My crazy heart only understands this now.
I realized you haven’t forgotten me yet.
I’m guilty, whatever you say, you’re right.
I longed for you like a breath,
You’ll hear my regret in my sighs.
I longed for you like a breath,
You’ll hear my regret in my sighs.
I can’t tell you to smile at me again.
I can’t tell you to hug me again.
But for the sake of our love, my darling,
at least, say hello to me.

“Yetti Artık”: The Bitter Liberation from a Love of Lies
“Yetti Artık” (Enough Is Enough) is a powerful breakup track from the album Yine Sensiz. It embodies the cathartic moment of liberation from a relationship dominated by deceit and betrayal. The song is a firm declaration of closure after enduring too much pain and disappointment.
The central meaning of “Yetti Artık” is that the protagonist has given their time and love without receiving sincerity in return, and now trust has completely vanished. “Yetti Artık” is an anthem to emotional resilience and the strength to turn the page. Tarkan, with his performance, expresses the weariness of a wounded heart, but also the determination to regain one’s dignity. It’s a song that resonates with anyone who found the courage to say goodbye to what was destroying them, celebrating the end of a painful cycle and the beginning of a new phase, free from the burden of lies.
English translation of the lyrics Yetti Artik – Enough is enough, enough!
Perhaps we loved each other once,
Tell me, what is left?
Hatred has taken the place of my love.
I forgot and erased it long ago.
I gave you my years,
I spread my love on your path.
If I could have believed your words,
Perhaps I would have loved you again.
Come on, tear up the photos,
Come on, burn the letters.
No memory of you should remain.
Enough is enough, enough!
Everything is over, it’s finished!
I can’t bear it anymore, your lies have consumed me.
I was always the one deceived,
I was always the one hurt.
It’s too late for regrets.
I was still the last one to laugh.
Come on, tear up the photos,
Come on, burn the letters.
No memory of you should remain.
Enough is enough, enough!
Everything is over, it’s finished!
I can’t bear it anymore, your lies have consumed me.

“Yine Sensiz”: The Incessant Echo of Unbearable Solitude
“Yine Sensiz” (Again Without You) is the track that closes the album with an intense expression of nostalgia and despair for the absence of a loved one. It’s a deeply melancholic ballad that encapsulates the central theme of the entire album: the difficulty of living when one’s heart is incomplete. The meaning of the lyrics is a continuous lament about loneliness. Every sunset and every evening evoke the absence, and the night becomes saturated with sadness. The beloved’s absence is omnipresent: their trace is everywhere, in everything, and even songs narrate and recall their presence. The protagonist questions the reason for this solitude and how they could ever face future years without the other. The questions “Where are you, who are you with?” express a torment that goes beyond mere absence, bordering on disquiet. Despite the realization that the loved one may not return, the desire to have them back is so strong that it culminates in a desperate plea for hope, a sign. “Yine Sensiz” is an anthem to the vulnerability of an enamored soul and the pain felt when a part of oneself is far away. Tarkan, with his emotionally charged voice, makes palpable the anguish of someone who feels lost without love and the difficulty of finding meaning in life when the most important person isn’t by their side. It’s a powerful closing for an album that explored every nuance of love and its absence.
English translation of the lyrics Yine Sensiz – Again without you
The sun is setting again without you.
Again, evening falls without you.
Sorrows await me.
My night, again, smells of sadness.
Everywhere, in everything, there’s your trace.
All the songs tell of you and remind me of you.
Ah, tell me, why this solitude?
How will the years pass without you?
Where are you, who are you with?
Ah, my love, come back, I miss you so much.
You won’t come back, I’ve understood that.
How will I live without you, without love?
I’m waiting with wet eyes.
Give me hope, I beg you.
Where are you, who are you with?
Ah, my love, come back, I miss you so much.
Where are you, who are you with?
Ah, my love, come back, I miss you so much.
